Busy Spring Semester at Slaton ISD

The Spring semester is in full swing, and Slaton ISD is buzzing with activity! From athletic achievements and stock shows to academic competitions and STAAR test preparation, our students, teachers, and staff are working hard to make this semester a success.

Athletics Update

Basketball season is winding down, and the Tigers are making us proud as they currently hold down the #8 spot in the state. Their dedication and teamwork continue to inspire the entire community.

As basketball wraps up, other sports are gearing up. Baseball and softball players are ready to hit the fields, while track, tennis, and golf athletes are preparing for what promises to be a successful season.

A special shoutout to the Powerlifting team, who will compete in a home meet on Thursday, January 30th. If you’ve never attended a Powerlifting meet, it’s a thrilling event that showcases the strength, determination, and grit of these incredible athletes. Many competitors achieve personal records at each meet, a testament to their consistent hard work.

Stock Show Season

The stock show season is in full swing, and Slaton ISD students, parents, and advisors are hard at work preparing animals for competition. This week, they’re showcasing their efforts in Fort Worth, with upcoming events in San Angelo, San Antonio, Houston, and Austin through mid-March. These students have been preparing for months to compete with other students across the state.  Best of luck to all involved—your dedication is truly admirable!

Academics and Extracurriculars

Academics are also taking center stage as Slaton High School students prepare for their District UIL meet in March. Meanwhile, the Mighty Tiger Band is busy perfecting their performances for their upcoming contest. We know they’ll bring their A-game and make us proud!

On all campuses, students are diligently covering content and practicing strategies for the upcoming STAAR tests. Their hard work, guided by our dedicated teachers and campus administrators, is laying the foundation for academic success.

With so much happening, it’s clear that the Spring semester is not for the faint of heart! Let’s keep all of our Slaton ISD students, teachers, coaches, and administrators in our thoughts as they tackle this busy season.
