Yesterday’s Build-Off was a huge success! It took a lot of long hours and hard work, but in the end, everyone showed up and showed out. The Slaton Welding Team entered two teams into the competition — and both teams placed!

Slaton Welding 1 walked away as the 1st Place Team of the S-Town Build-Off, while Slaton Welding 2 earned an impressive 4th place finish. 

“To say I’m proud is an understatement. Each of these students demonstrated outstanding skill, teamwork, and dedication — far beyond what I could ask for as a teacher. They continue to learn, grow, and push their abilities every single day” said Instructor Cody Kinch.

A huge thank you goes out to our incredible sponsors who provided generous donations and prizes that help our students build a better future. This event wouldn’t have been possible without your support.

Special thanks to the High Plains Welding Association and Tucker Oil Company for helping us award a $750 scholarship to one outstanding senior, recognizing their exceptional workmanship and leadership throughout the contest.

Finally, thank you to the community of Slaton for your endless support of our welding program and what it brings to our students and this great town.
