Slaton Advanced Culinary Students Explore the 2025 West Texas Food Service Coop Nutrition Expo

Advanced Culinary students from Slaton High School along with their instructors Jessica Kelly and BaLeigh Pugh, had an exciting opportunity to attend the 2025 West Texas Food Service Coop Nutrition Expo at Region 17. This annual event, themed “Taste of Texas,” featured over 80 vendors showcasing innovative food products and menu ideas that could potentially be integrated into school cafeteria menus. Students not only sampled and reviewed a variety of foods but also had the incredible chance to meet celebrity Chef Jet Tila! Chef Tila, known for his expertise in global cuisine, hosted this year’s Culinary Trainings, sharing insights and techniques with aspiring young chefs. This hands-on experience allowed our students to engage with industry professionals, explore future culinary trends, and gain inspiration for their own cooking journeys. Great things are taking place in Slaton ISD and we are delighted that our students are able to take advantage of such wonderful programs and events.
It’s a great day to be a Slaton Tiger!
