Mrs. Baird's Teacher On The Rise
We are thrilled to share that Slaton High School’s very own Shania Smith has been recognized as the October Teacher on the Rise by Mrs. Baird’s and United Supermarkets! This special recognition comes from the heart of education—her students—who nominated her for the incredible connections she builds in the classroom and the lasting impact she makes each day.
Making connections and building strong relationships with students is at the core of Mrs. Smith’s approach to teaching. She understands that a supportive, engaged classroom environment can inspire students to thrive, not only academically but personally as well. Her dedication to fostering a meaningful learning environment has truly made her stand out.
For the thirteenth year, Mrs. Baird’s and United Supermarkets have teamed up to recognize outstanding teachers like Mrs. Smith through their Teachers on the Rise program. Over the past decade, thousands of heartfelt nominations have poured in, honoring teachers who go above and beyond for their students. Each month during the school year, three teachers—one each from elementary, middle, and high school levels—are selected from Lubbock and surrounding areas to receive this award. Not only do these teachers get recognized, but their students also have a chance to win prizes for their nominations!
Congratulations to Shania Smith for this well-deserved recognition! Her work reminds us all that the connections made in the classroom have a lasting impact and that every day, teachers are helping to shape the future with dedication, heart, and a commitment to student success.
